Remember Bob Biswas in Vidya Balan’s 2012 film Kahaani? If it doesn’t ring a bell, Bob Biswas was a ruthless assassin played by Saswata Chatterjee in the Sujoy Ghosh-directed Kahaani. Despite a limited screen time in the film, the character became a favourite with Bollywood buffs, especially for his trademark line, “Nomoshkar, ek minute,” which preceded his kills.

After a gap of seven years of the film’s release, Bob Biswas is now returning to the big screen, thanks to Shah Rukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. While Abhishek will step into Chatterjee’s shoes in the upcoming film titled Bob Biswas, Shah Rukh has turned producer for the same.

Shah Rukh took to Twitter to announce the film and dropped a hint for cinephiles with his caption: the film has something to do with Kahaani’s Bob Biswas.

Shah Rukh wrote, “#BobBiswas is coming to ‘kill it!’ Happy to associate with Bound Script Production to bring #BobBiswas, played by @juniorbachchan and directed by Diya Annapurna Ghosh. @RedChilliesEnt @gaurikhan @sujoy_g @_GauravVerma.”

Abhishek, who was last seen in Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan, also shared the news on his Twitter account. In his post, he wrote, “Excited to announce my next film!! Bob Biswas. Can’t wait to get started. Working with many favourites. @iamsrk @gaurikhan @sujoy_g @_GauravVerma.”

Kahaani director Sujoy also brought back Bob Biswas’s “ek minute” dialogue in his tweet.

“Need your blessings and good wishes, and a minute of your time,” he wrote.

While Balan’s film Kahaani was directed by Sujoy Ghosh, Bob Biswas will be helmed by his daughter Diya Annapurna Ghosh, who assisted him in Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan’s Badla earlier this year.

Several media reports suggest that Bob Biswas will be a prequel to Kahaani and will revolve around his life. DC’s most iconic villain Joker got a separate origin film this year. And now it looks like filmmakers in India are also walking the same path.

Now, it is to be seen whether the makers will cast Vidya Balan in the upcoming film or not. Vidya played the role of Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant woman who reaches Kolkata in search of her missing husband. The film also starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Parambrata Chatterjee in key roles.

Four years after Kahaani, a sequel Kahaani 2 was released, which also starred Vidya Balan in the lead.

Abhishek Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, were last seen together in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year, which released in 2014. The actors are now reuniting for Bob Biswas.
