Shamshera, in which Ranbir Kapoor returns as the action entertainer, has been available for pre booking for more than five days. Ranbir, Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor all appear in the movie. As of Wednesday night, the movie’s advance bookings are trending approximately normal. PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis, the three national chains, have sold about 23,000 tickets, and ideally, it will aim to close at 60,000 to 65,000.
The industry had anticipated that the movie would surpass Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’s total ticket sales (1 lakh), but as time went on, expectations were lowered to an advance sale in the neighbourhood of 75,000. However, based on current trends, it appears that by the end of Thursday, it will be below 65,000. To put things into perspective, Samrat Prithviraj had sold 41,000 tickets compared to 57,000 sold by Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Shamshera’s pricing disadvantage is that even if it outsells Jug Jugg Jeeyo in national chains, the aggregate collections may be lower because Jug Jugg Jeeyo had prices that were about 40% higher there. Shamshera’s advance fell short of expectations, but since it’s a big-budget movie, everyone anticipates huge day-of attendance if the reviews are even decent.According to the trends in advance booking, the film would likely open to between Rs. 12.5 and 14.5 crore on its first day, competing with Kartik Aaryan’s psycho thriller to become the largest Bollywood opening of the year. The viewer’s word of mouth will determine whether it surpasses it or not; favourable conversation can increase opening day sales to Rs. 15 to 16 crores, while negative talk would reduce it to Rs. 12 crores. Surprisingly, the mass belt reservations are not up to par, and this audience segment is anticipated to line up at the counter on opening day. Well now lets see whether Shamshera preceeds the prediction so made. Shamshera stars Sanjay Dutt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor in pivotal roles.
