The Kashmir Files, helmed by Vivek Agnihotri, was launched last week on Friday to a resounding success. The movie got off to a strong start, grossing Rs. 3.55 crore on Day 1. Amazingly, despite its limited distribution, the movie’s performance grew on Day 2 with an additional Rs. 8.50 crore in receipts. The Kashmir Files, which has seen a surge in the number of shows, has now raked in an additional Rs. 15.10 crore on its third day.
In this box office analysis, The Kashmir Files’ opening weekend collections compare them to other films following the covid pandemic. The Kashmir Files outperforms last year’s movie Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1, which took in Rs. 12.68 crore and became the fourth-highest opening weekend grosser post-pandemic with Rs. 27.15 crore. Though it does not outperform previous releases such as Sooryavanshi, which grossed Rs. 77.08 crore, 83, which grossed Rs. 47 crore, and Gangubai Kathiawadi, which grossed Rs. 39.12 crore, it does outperform others such as Badhaai Do, which grossed Rs. 7.82 crore, and Jhund, which grossed Rs. 5.58 crore.
The Kashmir Files is indeed the viewer’s first selection in theatres today. If that wasn’t enough, the movie is predicted to continue to make money due to a rise in the amount of screens and daily shows. According to the sources, if The Kashmir Files continues on its current trajectory, it might easily become one of the year’s highest-grossing films.
The movie is based on the evacuation of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency and was produced by Zee Studios. Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi features in the lead role in the movie. The movie was originally slated for a worldwide theatre launch on January 26, 2022, to coincide with India’s Republic Day, but was delayed owing to the Omicron variant outbreak, and was finally launched on March 11, 2022.
