Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar of Bollywood may be foregoing their low-key wedding in favour of a spectacular Bollywood-style ceremony.
After weeks of speculation that the couple might marry in a small registered ceremony, it now appears that they will have their big giant fantasy wedding after all. While it was previously reported that the pair would marry in a private court ceremony next month, current rumours say that they have now opted to have a lavish wedding in April.
According to sources, Farhan and Shibani wanted to keep the celebrations low-key owing to pandemic restrictions and the Omicron threat, but now that everything is under control, they plan to go all out.
Farhan and Shibani have been together for almost four years. They’ve been living together for a while and have even adopted dogs together.
Farhan is currently preparing for his next directorial project, ‘Jee Le Zara,’ which stars Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, and Alia Bhatt. The film is set to begin production in the second half of 2022, with a projected release date of 2023.
According to recent rumours, the film may be postponed because Priyanka had recently given birth to her first child via surrogacy and wants to spend time with her. The reports, however, were later debunked.
After co-founding Excel Entertainment with Ritesh Sidhwani in 1999, Akhtar made his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai (2001), which gained critical praise for its portrayal of modern youth and won the National Award for Best Hindi Film the following year. Following this triumph, he directed the cult war picture Lakshya (2004) and made his Hollywood debut as a lyricist for the Bride and Prejudice (2004) soundtrack, which he and his sibling Zoya Akhtar wrote. Following that, he directed the successful Don (2006), his third directorial endeavour, after which he directed the short film Positive (2007) to raise HIV-AIDS consciousness.
