The film Pushpa: The Rise, starring Tollywood star Allu Arjun, is still doing well at the box office in its third week. The delay in the release of other major films due to the mounting occurrences of Covid-19 infections has aided the film’s theatrical run. Despite the competition from Spider-Man: No Way Home and Ranveer Singh’s 83, the picture has done well.
Even in its third week of release, Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa The Rise’ remained unbeaten at the box office. Despite restrictions and a cap in theatres, the film had its best single day box office on Day 16. And has now amassed a total of Rs 300 crore around the globe. Regional adaptations did well as well. The Hindi version brought in a total of Rs 56.69 crore. According to the reports, the film is on track to gross up to Rs 75 crore in Hindi.
The films Jersey, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, were set to release on December 31st and January 7th, respectively, and were expected to compete with Pushpa. The release of both of these films, however, has been postponed. This will undoubtedly favour Pushpa in both the south and north markets of the country, as no other major films are scheduled to hit theatres in the near future.
Allu Arjun, speaking about the film’s performance, claimed that he didn’t expect it to do well in Hindi regions, and that the release was merely a test-run, but that it unexpectedly did well.
Pushpa: The Rise was released in theatres on December 17, 2021, in Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada dubbed versions. Previously, the film was supposed to be released on August 13, 2021, to coincide with the Fourth of July weekend, but it was postponed. The sequel, Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2, will begin filming in 2022.
