As the second season of Netflix’s period drama Bridgerton approaches, the digital streaming platform has revealed that the new season will include a cover of a prominent B-town music track. An orchestra cover of the title track from Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham will be performed during the show. The artwork is created by Kris Bowers.
When it was launched in 2001, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was one of the major Bollywood blockbusters of the time, grossing over 136 crore at the box office. Shah Rukh Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor were among the cast members. The movie’s title track was composed by Jatin-Lalit, with lyrics written by Sameer, and will be recreated in Bridgerton. Lata Mangeshkar performed the song.
Apart from that, the new season will include cover editions of musics such as Madonna’s Material Girl, Nirvana’s Stay Away, Robyn’s Dancing on My Own, Alanis Morissette’s You Oughta Know, Rihanna’s Diamonds, Harry Styles’ Sign of the Times, Calvin Harris’ How Deep is Your Love, and Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball.
According to the sources, showrunner Chris Van Dusen mentioned that there is a procedure to the madness when it comes to these covers. All of these songs were chosen for very precise reasons. Each one is tremendously powerful and emotionally charged in its own way. I always experiment with a variety of music before settling on the best one for a scene. I’m really excited about our musical selections this season.
Justin Kamps, the series’ music supervisor, said he’s happy for everybody to listen to these melodies, because an instrumental version breathes fresh life into them and introduces them to a new generation of fans, despite the fact that they’re big tunes that everyone knows.
Bridgerton’s inaugural season featured classical versions of contemporary singles such as Maroon 5’s Girls Like You, Shawn Mendes’ In My Blood, and Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams, among others.
The drama follows the Bridgerton siblings as they navigate London culture in pursuit of love and companionship during the Regency Era. On Valentine’s Day, the first teaser for the new season was released. The Viscount Who Loved Me, the second novel in Julia Quinn’s best-selling Bridgerton series, will be the basis for Bridgerton season two, which will premiere on March 25.
