It’s undeniably the biopic season in B-town. Several successful biopics have been produced by our filmmakers back to back. Having said that, rumours are that talented filmmaker and producer of Bollywood, Karan Johar, was planning a biopic on the Cricket legend, Yuvraj Singh.
But, unfortunately, it seems like that isn’t happening anytime soon. Want to know the reason? We have come up with some interesting scoop for all our readers.
Reportedly, Luv Ranjan had recently disclosed that he would be making a biopic on the prominent cricketer Sourav Ganguly. However, it has been revealed by sources that before Luv, Kjo was planning to produce cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s biopic.
It’s not a hidden fact that Yuvraj Singh’s life journey has indeed been a rollercoaster, and is definitely worth making a biopic upon. So, Karan was thrilled to make this project happen, he even had several meetings with Yuvraj and his teams and was in fact about to buy the rights.
Karan was planning to cast Siddhant Chaturvedi to portray the character of Yuvraj, thinking that the actor resembles Yuvraj a lot, and Siddhant is also a sensation at the moment, hence, that would be an USP. But, apparently, Yuvraj was of the opinion that his biopic should definitely star an A-List actor. The cricketer even suggested two names, Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan.
But, Kjo felt that the story would work better with a rather new face, he also believed that Yuvraj’s story would do well irrespective of who is portraying him because he has had such a magnificent life journey.
Ultimately, the negotiations about casting did not turn out well, as Karan and Yuvraj could not come to a mutual decision. Hence, both decided to part ways and shelve the project for the time being.
