The Delhi High Court has refused to ban the telecast of the Netflix film ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’. The Center had said in its petition that the film is portraying the wrong image of the Indian Air Force. Justice Rajiv Shakdhar asked the Center why he did not approach the court before the film’s performance on the ‘Over the Top’ (OTT) stage. Also said that no order can be passed now because the film has been screened.
On behalf of the Center, Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain said that the film is tarnishing the image of the Indian Air Force, because it showed that there is gender discrimination in force, which is not right. The High Court has sought answers from ‘Dharma Productions Pvt Ltd’ and Netflix on the Centre’s plea urging the film to stop airing. The court said that former flight lieutenant Gunjan Saxena should also form a party in the case and issued a notice to them and also sought their reply. Significantly, the film ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ was released on August 12 on the OTT stage.
