Bollywood’s legendary musical duo, Gulzar Sahab and AR Rahman who had won an Oscar together for the song “Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire are being reunited for another Bollywood masterpiece by filmmaker Sandeep Singh. This upcoming movie is said to be a biopic on the life of a business tycoon and Sahara Chief Subrata Roy. The rights to make this movie was obtained by Sandeep Singh in July this year.
Filmmaker Sandeep Singh who has in the past delivered some brilliant movies like Sarbjit, Aligarh and Bhoomi as a producer has definitely knocked this out of the park with his exceptional idea of approaching two of the best musical legends that we have in Bollywood. Guess, Sandeep is well acquainted with the fact that before the audiences get to watch the movie the primary connection to the viewers is made by its amazing songs and lyrics and both Gulzar Sahab and AR Rahman has never failed to achieve that connection with their fans.
Both Gulzar Sahab and AR Rahman have shared their feelings about the upcoming collaboration. According to the sources, AR Rahman said; “Gulzar Saab’s soulful lyrics are extremely inspiring for a musician and I hope I can do justice to the lyrics and the story. I am looking forward to this collaboration.” Gulzar Sahab said; “It will be wonderful to collaborate with Rahman again. Subrata Roy’s life is enigmatic and inspiring. Rahman is a wonderful artist and musician and I look forward to this collaboration.”
Sandeep Singh also shared his sentiments saying that he is filled with joy with the thought of having two of the best musical legends on board on the project that he is extremely close to.
The title and cast of the biopic are to be announced soon.
