For the past few years, Bollywood has seen a surge in biopics, with many of them focusing on athletes.
Kartik Aaryan has expressed his desire to play Virat Kohli on big screens. Kartik Aaryan, whose latest film Dhamaka had a great response from audiences, is set to appear in a number of upcoming films and has a number of projects lined up for this year, including Freddy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Shehzada. However, it appears that Kartik is interested in branching out into a new genre: cricket biopics.
Kartik was asked by a fan in an interview with a big entertainment outlet which cricketer’s biopic he would like to appear in. He said that he wanted to do a biopic on Virat Kohli. Kartik answered. Virat Kohli is India’s Test captain and is widely regarded as one of the best cricketers in the world.
Actor previously shared a photo of himself dressed in cricket gear, leading to assumption that he was filming a cricket-themed movie. Kartik, on the other hand, was later revealed to have worn the cricket kit for an ad shoot.
For the past several years, a slew of cricket-themed films have been released. MS Dhoni: An Untold Story, the biopic of former Indian captain MS Dhoni, was the first biopic of an Indian cricketer. The film 83, starring Ranveer Singh, was recently released, and it tells the narrative of India’s win in the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Two biopics about Indian female cricketers are in the works. On February 4, the film Shabash Mithu, based on the life of Indian cricketing superstar Mithali Raj and starring Taapsee Pannu, will be released. Chakda Xpress, which features Anushka Sharma as a female lead and based on former Indian skipper Jhulan Goswami, will be available on Netflix as well.
