Deepika Padukone is set to play yet another powerful female character, Draupadi in the upcoming feature ‘Mahabharat’. Apart from bringing the character to life on the big screen, the actress will also turn producer for the film along with Madhu Mantena.
The film, that unfolds through the eyes of its female protagonist, is slated to release in multiple parts. The first part of the franchise is set to hit the big screens on Diwali 2021 it has been announced.
“I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to be essaying the role of Draupadi. I truly believe that it is the role of a lifetime,” Deepika said in a statement to Mumbai Mirror.
Deepika is currently awaiting the release of her next ‘Chhapaak’ alongside Vikrant Massey, where she will be seen playing the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggrawal. The Meghna Gulzar-directorial will open in cinemas on January 10, 2020, where it will clash with Ajay Devgn’s period drama ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’.
