Sunny Kaushal, Radhika Madan, Mohit Raina and Diana Penty starrer movie Shiddat had a digital release on Disney+Hotstar Multiplex on 1st October. And, we have come up with the perfect analysis of what you should and should not expect from this romantic movie.
Casting: If we talk about the casting of the movie, all the actors have done total justice to their characters, in fact the four lead actors are the one who actually saved the movie from being a total disaster. Sunny Kaushal as Jaggi Sehgal and Mohit Raina as Gautam Kapoor have done an exceptional job with their expressions and dialogue delivery. Talking about the ladies, Radhika Madan as Kartika Negi has given a decent performance while Diana Penty as Ira Sharma who got significantly less screen time was not bad either. The actors are definitely the saving grace of the film.
Script: Shiddat is a perfect example of old school love stories, and Director Kunal Deshmukh has tried his best to turn this movie into a vintage Yash Raj-themed romantic movie. And you certainly do get a vibe of those 90s love stories. But the script appears to be a little loose in its formation. You will get the entire mixture of comedy, romance and melodrama, but many times the emphasis placed on melodramatic scenes and the dialogues seems forced.
Direction and Execution: Now, this is the part where the movie failed to deliver its finest performance. Although Kunal Deshmukh has tried to give his all, the movie clearly falls flat with its execution. As a director, you are supposed to explore and take risks, but, it seems like Kunal has played it safe and has experimented less.
Songs: Romantic Bollywood movies and soothing songs go hand in hand, don’t they? Well, Sachin-Jigar with their incredible music will leave you grooving. Although the entire album is mesmerising, but, the three songs from the movie deserve a special mention including; the title track, Barbaadiyan and Akhiyan Udeek Diyan.
A one time watch?
If we talk about whether you should invest your time in this movie at all. The answer would be ‘Yes you should’. The film is surely a one time watch. You will be thoroughly entertained by the performance of the cast, the songs and the scenes, just don’t try to find faults, relax and enjoy it.
Altogether, you will enjoy watching some fresh pairs on screen.
