On Saturday, the streaming service SonyLiv released a teaser for the season 2 of the political thriller Maharani. In her conflict with her husband and predecessor Bheema Bharti, the lead character Rani Bharti (Huma Qureshi) was first seen in the teaser (Sohum Shah). The second season’s launch date was not specified in the teaser. The first season of the programme premiered in 2020 to mixed reviews, however critics complimented Huma’s acting skills in this show.
The teaser starts with Bheema Bharti, an ex CM, emerging from jail sporting a new beard look. He speaks at political events, one remotely using a phone that is kept close to the microphone, and he attributes his current status to his spouse Rani. He then makes a vow to his supporters that he would not accept this and that Rani may anticipate a difficult battle. The next scene then focuses on Rani as she prepares to enter her four wheeler vehicle. She muffles the noise around her while focusing on the camera. The concert was greatly anticipated, according to fans. “Eagerly anticipating Huma’s absolutely great performance,” one person stated. Can’t wait, another person wrote. Asap, launch it.
Rani unwillingly assumed the role of chief minister in Maharani Season 1 after Bheema had a stroke. The drama showed how the politically ignorant Rani grew increasingly conscious of her surroundings and matured into an experienced politician who was skilled at handling the intrigues of both the opposition as well as her own party supporters.
Maharani, which is helmed by Ravindra Gautam, was penned and bankrolled by Nandan Singh and Subhash Kapoor. Vineet Kumar, Amit Sial, Inaamulhaq, Kani Kasturi, Dibyendu Bhattachary, Anuja Sathe, Pramod Pathak, Ravindra Gautam, and others play significant parts in the programme. There is currently no official launch date for the second season, however it will be streaming shortly on SonyLiv.
