The much-anticipated trailer for the Tamil film Valimai was released yesterday,
on December 30, 2021, to a rousing response from all quarters. The film, which stars superstar Ajith Kumar, appears to be a fun-filled entertainer that is expected to set the cash registers ringing. What has also added to the excitement is that, despite the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the country, the makers have begun promotions and will release it on January 13, 2022, which is only two weeks away. The movie which will be simultaneously delivering in three different languages Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu and it’s going to be a huge launch this Pongal festival.
And now it has been revealed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approved the film, albeit with some cuts. According to the cut list, the creators made up to 15 cuts or modifications. The majority of these changes pertain to the violent scenes. The CBFC has asked the producers to cut some of these scenes in the movie because they may affect the viewers. Second, the sequence of drug inhalation has been significantly reduced. An image of a character flashing the middle finger twice has been defocused. An offensive word has been removed, and an offensive conversation has been muted. Some animal visuals in the film were deemed ‘non approved,’ and were cut from the final cut. Lastly, a disclaimer about drugs was added in scenes, in which the characters are being shown using narcotic substances.
The censor certificate was handed over to the filmmakers today, December 31. According to the censor certificate, the film lasts 178 minutes and 35 minutes. In other words, Valimai is 2 hours, 58 minutes, and 35 seconds long. Apart from the lead male Ajith Kumar the movie also stars Karthikeya, Bani, Sumithra, Huma S Qureshi, Achyunth Kumar, Yogi Babu, Raj Ayyappa, and Pugazh. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music, and H Vinoth directed the film. The film was produced by Boney Kapoor in collaboration with Zee Studios.
