Since a few days, Jugjugg Jeeyo has been causing quite a stir. Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Neetu Kapoor appear in the film, which is described as a family entertainer. The trailer for the film was released today, May 22, with much hoopla, alogwith tge presence of Maniesh Paul and Prajakta K oli, who play major characters in the film. During the same interview, producer Karan Johar was asked about the recent South vs. Bollywood controversy, to which the producer said that we need to perceive it as Indian cinema, of which he is proud.
Karan Johar, who has been a prominent producer of South films under the Dharma label, stated at the trailer event that we should be appreciative of Indian cinema overall. “When films like Pushpa, RRR, and KGF are doing well, we can legitimately declare that this is Indian Cinema,” he stated. I can honestly state that I am proud of Indian movies in general. They have elevated Indian cinema’s prominence. Rajamouli sir, Sukumar, and the creators of KGF have all shown us how far we can go and how much we can accomplish; they have truly lifted our bar. After the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has recieved a fantastic start. Now all we need is for JugJugg Jeeyo to be added to the list. We hope that films in all languages, whether Tamil, Telugu, or Marathi, fare well. We simply do not wish for any languages to be compared to one another. We simply want to celebrate Indian cinema.”
Karan Johar also refuted about any competition between South and Bollywood movie. “If you recall, many years ago I presented Bahubali,” he continued (under the banner of Dharma films). In fact, I have high hopes for Indian cinema. Within the same industry, how can there be competition? We develop together. Competing would be detrimental to the entertainment industry’s needs. We need to work together as a team. The best example of cross-pollination occurred when South films did well in the North. It makes no difference if the picture is screened at a foreign festival or if we win an Oscar” he furter cited.
