Ever Since Kabir Khan announced his next sports movie ’83, fans have been super excited to watch the classic underdog story come alive on the silver screen. According to a latest Bollywood update, this sports drama may get an international spin.
‘83 is a biopic on India’s iconic World Cup win in 1983. It is reliably learnt that the Ranveer Singh starrer movie is being readied in the English language as well as the original Hindi. The team of the project believes that this English version of the movie will help the film to reach Kapil Dev’s international fan following.
A source revealed, “It makes sense to have an English version of 83 since Kapil Dev has fans all over the world. The story of his triumph at the 1983 World Cup is of interest to his fans across the world. So yes, an international English version of 83 is being considered.”
‘83 revolves around India’s historic Cricket World Cup win in Lords Stadium. This win secured India’s future in the World cricket and till date Indian team still boasts as one of the best cricket team in the world. Kabir Khan decided to make a film on this win and casted some of the best actors in the industry to play the role of the cricketers who formed the formidable team of ’83 World Cup.
The starcast of the movie includes actors like Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, and other such talented actors.
The film features Ranveer Singh in the role of Kapil Dev while Ranveer’s real-life wife Deepika Padukone will be seen in the role of Kapil Dev’s better-half Romi Dev.
Tahir Raj Bhasin is playing ‘Kapil Dev’s first Devil’, Sunil Gavaskar. Pankaj Tripathi will take on the role of Man Singh who was the manager of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian team. Saqib Saleem is playing the ‘comeback king’ Mohinder “Jimmy” Amarnath. Jatin Sarna is reprising the role of Yashpal Sharma.
The movie was scheduled to release in April 2020, but due to the corona virus pandemic it got delayed. As things are getting back to normal, it is expected that the movie will be hitting the silver screen super soon.
