Director: Ali Abbas Zafar
Duration: 1 hour 56 minutes
Where to watch: Netflix
Rating: 4 stars
Known for working with Stars like Ranveer Singh, Salman Khan and Arjun Kapoor. Ali Abbas Zafar has made another hard-hitting based on real events movie.
The movie is set in the year 1984, One of the bloodiest chapters of Independent India’s history. Even today one can see the impact of the year 1984 on anyone and everyone who has or had a connection with the Sikh community or the Indian State of Punjab per se.
The thriller keeps one on the edge of their seats throughout the movie, the screenplay written by Ali Abbas Zafar and Sukhmani Sadana (whose most recent work was “Rocketry: The Nambi effect”), who have put in the required effort to ake the story thrilling and gripping.
It shows thorough out the movie that everything was happening at a fast pace without enough time to process the last major scene, you are standing in the middle of another complicated situation.
Maybe the Director was trying to present the reality of those days, from what he must have heard during his research from the actual people who suffered in those days.
Talking about the acting performances,
For the very First time, the International Super Star from Punjab Diljit Dosanjh will be seen with cut hair and without a turban, a scene which is very crucial and emotional in the storyline, which presented a very hard-hitting reality to the audience of the people who suffered in those days. This movie also proved the mettle of Diljit Dosanjh as an actor and his commitment to presenting the art with all its reality.
Along with Dijit Dosanjh, the star cast includes Mohd Zeeshan Ayub, Kumud Mishra, Hiten tejwani, Amyra Dastur and Paresh Pahuja.
Kumud Mishra is seen in the role of a local Politician with religion the main agenda of his politics. He is seen as a ruthless and inhumane character, after watching his performance one is left questioning what kind of person would do such acts in reality.
The Team of “JOGI” must be appreciated for showing the inter-religious harmony and friendships throughout the movie, it is a well-balanced presentation of Good and Evil.
