Nayla Al Khaja, the UAE’s first female filmmaker, is teaming with Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman on her forthcoming feature film Baab. Al Khaja and Masoud Amralla Al Ali wrote the screenplay.According to reports, the film follows, Wahida as she tries to make sense of her twin sister’s death, which is shrouded in mystery. She is troubled by a haunting beat in her ears as she tries to untangle the threads using concealed cassette tapes. Her anguish leads her far into the mountains, where she attempts to unravel the mysteries of the human soul.

Rahman remarked that Nayla is an enthusiastic and enticing movie director and a powerful and influential voice as she is the first feme director from UAE. The script has the elements of suspense and is full of mystery, is thought-provoking, and promises to be aesthetically and emotionally captivating for a wide range of audiences.
The film will begin filming in Ras Al Khaimah in March 2023, with the Jais peaks as a backdrop. For realism, the film’s creators have said that they will cast people from the area. The film is produced by Elly Senger-Weiss and Sultan Al Darmaki, with Muna Easa Al Gurg serving as executive producer.
