The 11th Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival 2021 awarded ‘Jungle Cry,’ a film based on the true story of 12 impoverished tribal boys from Odisha, the ‘Best Film’ (Jury) Award.
The film depicts how 12 kids from Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) qualified for the 2007 International Junior Rugby Tournament in the United Kingdom and went on to win the famous U-14 Rugby World Cup. It is a film that encourages education, sports, and poverty eradication while also instilling patriotism in all nations. Abhay Deol, a Bollywood actor, played rugby coach Rudraksh Jena, who coached tribal boys from Odisha to compete at the world level. In the film, the lovely and graceful actress Emily Shah plays a Rugby physiotherapist in the story of 12 destitute tribal orphans from Odisha who play sports barefoot and go on to win the famous Rugby Competition held in England. ” Emily’s first foreign film was titled as Fortune Defies Death. She has been seen in several other movies like Fast and Furious 7, Captain America etc.
The movie will be exclusively streaming on Lionsgate Play from 3rd June,2020
Atul Kumar, Stewart Wright, and Julian Lewis Jones are among the cast members. Nigel Owens and Colin Charvis, two well-known athletes, will make cameo appearances in the film.Sagar Ballary directed ‘Jungle Cry,’ which was produced by Bollywood Productions. In Cannes, the film’s trailer was revealed.
The actress Emily Shah, is doing her bollywood debut from this movie. She has previously in her media interactions said that the movie ‘Jungle Cry’ is something which attracted her and the plot was very well executed. Both the actors have researched about rugby extensively. The movie’s story was something that brings in the desire to work in the film as lead. The actress has also said and mentioned about Abhay Deol and how efficiently these guys were discussing about the role and how they made it look so real. The movie is all about the struggles and sports and knowledge and it will be great to see how these actors collaborate together and potray this true story in a fascinating way on screen.
