After much anticipation, the Brahmastra trailer launched on Wednesday. It stars Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. The production of the picture took more than five years, and it was in the process for a very long period. Ayan Mukerji, the director, has now admitted that Ranbir himself was one of the reasons for whom of the production got delayed. After Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Brahmastra would be Ayan Mukerji’s third film in a row to feature Ranbir Kapoor in the lead position. Brahmastra’s pre-production had begun in 2014, a year after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s release, however Ranbir postponed his work on the movie in favour of his 2018 release Sanju. Ranbir’s final on-screen appearance occurred in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt.
Recently, Ayan discussed his nearly nine years on Brahmastra. According to him, “Ranbir was given Sanju when I began the Brahmastra preparations. He was presumed to begin preparation with me, but he started Sanju instead. I was furious. Having him collaborate with Raju Hirani made me happy, but what about my venture?”
Ayan went on to say that he has come to see that Ranbir made the right choice in giving Sanju priority. He stated: “But looking back, I’m delighted Ranbir choose Sanju because a few years later, the film had already been shot, edited, and was prepared for distribution, while my pre-production was still ongoing. It would have taken too long for Ranbir to wait for me.”With Brahmastra came in the love story of Ranbir and Alia as the couple fell in love while shooting for the film. They began production on the film in 2017.
Brahmastra will also be Ranbir and Alia’s first movie following their nuptials in April 2022 once it premieres on September 9. The movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy in addition to the couple.
