Boney Kapoor has been in news since he said yes for a role in Luv Ranjan’s upcoming project. According to the 65 year old producer, he had no intention of taking to acting, as he plans to do something other than that.
Though Boney Kapoor is a well known name among producers as he has produced several blockbuster movies till date, but his secret ambition is entirely different from what he has been doing till now.
The producer said, “I want to direct a film. I’ve been producing films from the age of 25. That’s when I produced my first film Hum Paanch. I think it’s time I directed a film. It will happen sooner rather than later. In these uncertain times it’s better to do what you want to do rather than to push it to later.”
Boney was recently seen in a cameo appearance in Vikramaditya Motwane’s AK vs AK. After this small role, Luv Ranjan and his team offered him a full-fledged role. He was offered the role of Ranbir’s father in Ranjan’s romantic drama starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. Initially Boney turned down the role as he was busy with his production ventures, but after his son Arjun persuaded him to accept the offer, he said yes.
On being roped in for the role in the movie, Boney said, “This happened because Luv insisted. He deputed my children to coax me, and you know I can’t say no to my daughters and son.”
Currently Boney is in Delhi and he is enjoying every bit of his new experience.
This is not the first time that Boney was offered a role in a movie. “Many years ago Mr Yash Chopra had offered me Lamhe, the role of Sridevi’s love interest that was played by Deepak Malhotra. I don’t know how serious the offer was. I was tempted to do it so I could be close to her. In fact when Lamhe was being shot in Switzerland I had flown down to meet her under some work-related pretext,” Boney said.
Apart from this role, Boney has a number of projects in the pipeline. His production ventures include the sports drama Maidaan, Ali Abbas Zafar’s Mr India trilogy, Tamil film Valimai and Telugu film Vakeel Saab.
The producer feels that his experiences are not over yet and he still has a long way to go.
