Film maker Mani Ratnum who is preparing for the release of his eagerly awaited Ponniyin Selvan part 1, was hospitalised to a hospital on Tuesday after exhibiting various Covid-related symptoms during the previous few days. According to sources, Ratnam screened positive for the new coronavirus and is presently undergoing treatment.Mani Ratnam, who last recently appeared in public at the Ponniyin Selvan teaser presentation, has been taken to the Apollo hospital in Chennai. Sreedhar Pillai, a film trade analyst, tweeted the news. #ManiRatnam tested positive for #COVID19 and was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai, the author stated.
Produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, Ponniyin Selvan is a film based on the epic novel of the same name by Kalki. The movie will be released by Lyca Productions. On September 30, the first part will be premiered on big screens. This month’s first trailer for the movie was unveiled in Chennai at a large launch party. It was clear from the teaser that this might end up being Mani Ratnam’s most expensive movie. The trailer gave equal attention to each of the main characters, and Aishwarya Rai seemed to be playing two roles. Aishwarya will be portrayed in the movie as both her mother, Queen Mandakini Devi, and Nandini, the spouse of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar. Additionally, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lakshmi, and Sarath will feature in the movie. Ponniyin Selvan has tunes by AR Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman. Editing was done by Sreekar Prasad, production design by Thota Tharani, and dialogue writing by Jeyamohan.
In January 2020, the movie’s title poster was announced. The movie started filming right away in Thailand, where a sizable chunk of the first program was filmed before production was halted because to the Covid-19 epidemic.
