Indian movies have left no stones unturned to make their appearance worth at Cannes Film festival. Not to forget that India has been the country of honor at 75th Marche’ Du Films also called as Cannes Film Festival. India is the first country to be selected for this honorable position. Well to enlighten and make India proud, certain films were selected to be screened and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and it is to be noted that Indian movie, their ideas and the first look has left a remarkable impact on a foreign platform. The essence of Indian movies has been felt at the Cannes Film festival. The movies represented were from different language from different states of India and from different movie industry. Some of the movies screened at Cannes Film Festival are mentioned below.
In Hindi, the films that were unveiled were; –
- Rocketry- The Nambi Effect; –
The movie stars R. Madhvan and it is also his own directorial debut. The movie is based on the life of a former scientist named, Nambi Narayan. The movie depicts of the story where the scientist gets accused of leaking certain important information. He later got his case filed in the Supreme Court. R Madhavan’s movie was screened at ongoing 75th Cannes Film Festival.
- Safeed; –
Sandeep Singh’s directorial debut, Safeed’s poster launch was done at the Cannes Film festival. The poster was unveiled by the well-known and internationally acclaimed musician and composer A.R. Rahman at Hotel Le Majestic. The movie stars Abhay Verma and Meera Chopra as a lead role.
- Country Of Blind: –
Actress Hina Khan unveiled the poster of her second movie Countr Of Blind at 75th Cannes Film Festival. The actress took over the Instagram to inform the same. Well this is Hina’s second appearance at Cannes Film festival. The diva had reached a long way from being just a television star to representing India on a international stage.
- Alpha Beta Gamma: –
Helmed by Shankar Srikumar’s romantic comedy has been premiered at Cannes Film Festival. The film portrays the narrative of a woman, her soon to be ex-husband and his future husband got stuck together during the Covid-19 lockdown.
In Marathi, the movies which are to be unveiled at Cannes Film Festival are;-
- Godavari;-
Directed by Nikhil Mahajan Marathi movie Godavari will be screened at Cannes Film Festival. The movie shows the story of a man named Nishikant Deshmukh and his family who are trying to cope up with the death of two close relatives.
- Potra
The movie Potra deals with social norms that effect the lives of the girls residing in the rural area. The movie is helmed by Shankar Dhotre.
In Malayalam, the movie premiered at Cannes is; –
- Niraye Thathakalulla Maram;-
Helmed by director Jayaraj, the movie portrays the story of a boy who helps a old man who does not remembers anything except his name, to find his way back to home.
In Maithili, the film presented at Cannes;-
- Dhuin
Directed by Gamak Ghar fame Anchal Mishra, the movie shows up the story of and aspiring actor who tries to make end by doing street plays.
Other than these the movies, Boomba Ride which is supposed to be in Mishing was also premiered at Cannes. The story was centred around the impoverished school with only one student named Boomba.
Indian movies have really outshined at an international stage. The mixture of different language , culture and diversity made India as a whole a proud Country at Cannes.
