Producers in the Telugu movie industry have declared that they will voluntarily stop participating in film shoots as of August 1. The Hyderabad-based Active Telugu Producers Guild (ATPG) announced on Tuesday night that they would postpone all filming until they could get down and talk about how to resolve their issues. Revenue and expenditures are mentioned as their primary issues in the statement.
The guild spoke about the alteration in “income situations and escalating costs” in the entertainment industry since the Covid-19 outbreak in a statement released on the organization’s official letterhead. In view of these altering circumstances, producers have chosen to halt filming while they look for answers, the note continued. “It’s our duty to improve the environment and make sure that we’re releasing our movies in a safe space. All production representatives of the Guild have consented to postpone filming beginning on August 1, 2022 in order to participate in deliberations until we come up with workable alternatives, the statement said.
While it’s unclear exactly which production companies and movies will follow this decision, there are plenty of rumours that it may cause delays for upcoming movies starring performers like Mahesh Babu, Jr. NTR, and Prabhas. KGF 3 is the most anticipated movies, while Vikrant Rona is soon to be released. Following the pandemic, the Telugu cinema industry has experienced a number of successes, most prominently RRR and Pushpa: The Rise, but filmmakers are cautious due to the shifting business model. A film producer had previously told PTI, “Theatrical earnings have reached a pitiful low of 20%, with the exception of blockbuster films like RRR, KGF-2, and a few others. The industry has been severely impacted by this; it was already in crisis mode as a result of Covid. Everyone is now concerned about the future viability of the sector in light of the current situation.” Well the news has obviously impacted bollywood industries as the audiences have given love to movies like Baahubali and KGF more and now that the production is being halted, we need to see how things get on track.
