A biographical drama thriller named Dosa King will mark the Hindi feature debut of Tamil director TJ Gnanavel, popularly known for his critically acclaimed 2021 film Jai Bhim. As she fought P Rajagopal, the late owner of Saravana Bhavan, for 18 years, Jeevajothi Santhakumar will be followed in the movie.
One of the biggest South Indian eateries was owned by Rajagopal. He was more well-known for being a family man who was adored by his staff and customers for his incredibly kind nature. He was also well-known for his pursuit of the uncooperative employee Jeevajothi Santhakumar, who was less than half his age at the time, which resulted in his being charged with, and ultimately found guilty of, Jeevajothi’s husband’s assassination.
Rajagopal and four other defendants were first sentenced to ten years in jail by a sessions court. Later, the Madras High Court extended the prison sentence to life in prison. The verdict and life sentence were affirmed by the Supreme Court in March 2019. Rajagopal had a heart attack after turning himself in to the police, and he passed away on July 18, 2019.
Junglee Pictures, the movie’s creators, revealed Dosa King after gaining Jeevajothi’s life rights. Gnanavel expressed his joy in a statement, saying, “I’ve attentively watched the matter, following the issue during my career as a journalist. Through the depiction of Jeevajothi’s legal fight, I intend to reveal fresh angles. Working on this project’s characters and directing it today seems strange. I’m eager to start this adventure with Junglee Pictures, which has produced some of the most recognisable movies in modern Indian cinema.
CEO Amrita Pandey stated,, “Dosa King is a compelling narrative that will need a close watch while analysing the characters and story. Having worked as a journalist for many years, Gnanavel is a well-rounded director who is a sucker for authenticity and small nuances. To work with him to bring this enthralling, incredible, and inspirational narrative to life, we are really excited.
