Anand will be remade! The legendary classic film starring Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan will be redone with a modern premise. The film will be recreated by NC Sippy’s grandson Sameer Raj Sippy and producer Vikram Khakhar, who is also the original producer. While the film is still in the drafting stage, the filmmaker has yet to be chosen. Well the other details in regard of the movie is yet to be disclosed.
“Scratching into our own masterpieces, we will unearth irreplaceable pearls rather than seeking for stories, Internationally or Regionally,” producer Vikram Khakhar stated being excited about the project. Placing Anand in the post-Covid age, where the value of life is emphasized, will enrich Anand’s story.” Producer Sameer Raj Sippy, who was overjoyed at the news of the remake, noted that stories like these need to be told to the next generation. As per the producer the movie is the depiction of sensitive emotions which needs to be embraced and known by the present generation.
Anand was premiered on March 12, 1971, for the uninitiated. The protagonist of the film, Anand Saigal, is a terminally ill patient (Rajesh Khanna). With death staring him in the face, Anand was unfazed. He was adamant to confront it, and he wanted others to rally behind him in this difficult quest. Anand wants everyone around him, including the doctors treating him, Dr. Bhaskar K. Banerjee alias Babu Moshai (Amitabh) and Dr. Prakash Kulkarni (Ramesh Deo), Deo’s wife Suman Kulkarni (Seema Deo), and the severe Matron D’Sa (Lalita Pawar).
The original film was a poetic depiction of the one absolute thing in the world, death. In a profound way; it was a poetry with which we had a predetermined tryst. Death does not, in Anand’s opinion, cast a dark shade on any of the pleasures that life has to give.
Well it will be great to watch which new age actor and director will be casted for this huge remake and fans are already eagerly waiting for other details to be revealed.
