Pankaj Tripathi, Neeraj Kabi, and Sayani Gupta feature in The Saga, which is based on true events.Mumbai, May 11, 2022: T-Series and Reliance Entertainment collaborated with Match Cut Productions to produce ‘Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga,’ a dark satire. The movie is based on genuine events. Srijit Mukherji, the film’s writer and director, has created an incisive drama about the negative impacts of urbanisation, man-animal conflict, and poverty, which leads to a unique practise in a small village situated on the outskirts of a forest.
Srijit Mukherji, a multiple National Award winner, has directed critically praised Bengali films such as Autograph (2010), Jaatishwar (2014), Chotushkone (2015), and Rajkahini (2015), as well as Ek Je Chilo Raja (2019). After the 2017 period drama Begum Jaan, ‘Sherdil – The Pilibhit Saga’ will be his second Hindi feature.
Srijit’s films have gained notoriety not only in India, but also at international film festivals such as the Palm Springs International Film Festival in California, the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival, the MIAAC Film Festival in New York, the Glasgow International Film Festival, and the London Indian Film Festival, among others.
“I am glad to collaborate with Reliance Entertainment to make ‘Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga,'” Srijit Mukherji said of his dream project. The real-life occurrence of horrific practises in communities near the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve motivated me, and I knew I wanted to include it in my next project. It takes tremendous bravery to give one’s life to preserve one’s family, and my film is based on this heroism, with a focus on the man-nature clash. This is a topic near and dear to my heart, and I hope it will elicit similar feelings in the audience about numerous social challenges in our society.”
Gulshan Kumar, T-Series Film, and Reliance Entertainment present Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga, which is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Reliance Entertainment and produced by Match Cut Productions Private Limited. Srijit Mukherji directed the film, which stars Pankaj Tripathi, Neeraj Kabi, and Sayani Gupta.
The film will be premiered on June 24, 2022.
