Jehanabad: Of Love & War.
A bloody, armed revolution is taking place while the song “Black Sun Black Clouds aur Black evening, traveler of this journey live long” is playing. Jehanabad has a certain smell (charm) to it, similar to the strange, alluring smell of an expensive cigar. A romantic love story tug at the heartstrings while a revolution is raging in the background in the new web series, which doesn’t quite fit into the patriotism genre as a whole. With Neena Gupta as well as Sanjay Mishra in the lead, Jehanabad’s director transports us to Bihar’s Naxal revolution and the people’s determination to topple a system that had promised them security and advancement.
The audience is soon drawn into the realm of Jehanabad by Rajiv Barnwal. Deepak Kumar, a Naxal commander, is being held captive in a district jail while waiting to be set free in what has been dubbed the most difficult jailbreak (Parambrata Chattopadhyay). In the same town, a love story develops between the perfect nice boy, English professor Abhimanyu Singh, and the adored single kid of a middle-class family, Harshita Gaur (Ritwik Bhowmik). Both plots are parallel and succeed on their own, engrossing the audience and keeping them hooked to the screen. Nevertheless, many lives are at risk when the two storylines collide.
The story.
Parambratta is appealing in a bad way. Each time he makes a brief but necessary appearance, he leaves a lasting impression. His well-read personality is both intelligent and vicious. The main focus of the programme is a love tale, but Parambratta’s persona serves as the true driving force behind what transpires in this region of Bihar. He performs it with the same dexterity as the character created by Rajeev, who has already demonstrated his talent in Bengali films like Kahani, Bulbbul, and many more. Ritwik does an excellent job of portraying the reserved English teacher in formal settings. Behind those rimless spectacles, he has an air of mystery about him despite being shy and overly polite.
He develops feelings for Harshita, a carefree university girl who doesn’t hesitate to follow her heart. Although she occasionally comes across as silly or even too imaginary, it’s refreshing to see a little town girl who is so independent and daring. Satyadeep Mishra is currently excelling in one patriotic job after another. The actor portrays a daring cop in this film after portraying a spy in Mukhbir, however he does support keeping the established quo with those in positions of authority.
