Zee5’s Taj-Divided by Blood is a fresh take on the Mughals as Naseeruddin Shah’s Akbar searches for a successor to his dynasty. The historical drama, which also features Shubham Kumar Mehra, Aashim Gulati, Taha Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Dharmendra, will be released on March 3.
Akbar declares that the throne will not always go to the firstborn son in the Taj: Divided by Blood trailer. Instead, Akbar assures his 3 children that when the time comes to select a successor, he would consider merit. The three of them are very dissimilar to one another. Prince Murad (Taha Shah) feels like the throne is entirely his, but Prince Salim (Aashim Gulati) is more interested in the arts and the royal lifestyle. Contrary to popular belief, Prince Daniyal (Shubham Kumar Mehra) is not shown as having a pure heart or being not greedy.
The advisor to Akbar alerts him to the conflict between his sons. The entry of Aditi Rao Hydari’s Anarkali further upends the succession struggle.
The Mughal empire is depicted in the movie as having plenty of scandal due to the intrigue and personal affairs that go on inside the palace. The brothers must choose between their own happiness and the price of being king.
