Sameer Khakhar, a veteran actor best known for playing Khopri in the television series Nukkad, departed unexpectedly today (15 March). He was a 71-year-old actor. In nearly 4 decade of his acting career, he appeared in a number of TV episodes and movies. Afterwards, he performed in two Gujarati dramas and made a name for himself as the popular Jai Ho role in Salman Khan’s movie.

According to Sameer’s cousin Ganesh Khakhar, he expired from multiple organ failure. He stated: “He had problems in breathing, After he fell asleep, he lost consciousness. The doctor advised us to admit him to the hospital when we contacted. He also had urinatory problems and his heart wasn’t functioning properly. He was maintained on a ventilator, and at 4:30 this morning he finally passed out.”
Sameer passed away at M M Hospital in Borivali after being admitted there.
Sameer Khakhar’s funeral will take place at Babhai Naka Crematorium in Borivali. He worked in T.V industry as well as in films. In addition to Circus, Naya Nukkad, Nukkad, Manorajan, Shrimaan Shrimati, and Adaalat, he has worked on several important television programmes. In the movie Sanjivani, which also starred Surbhi Chandna as well as Namit Khanna, he was last seen.
The actor had talked previously , he admitted that he’d been in search of excellent projects after coming from the american states. “like everyone I’m too, seeking for a job,” he declared. And when I say “searching for work,” I mean going after and seeking for a position. For entertainers, it is a regular practice with each movie or television programme. But I’m also a poor salesman.”
“I wish my contection will help me in getting an opportunities. Want to keep working till I die. Want to amuse people forever since I have not yet grown weary”, Sameer Khakhar continued.
