On Monday, Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu strongly reacted to Supreme Court asking a rape accused if he is willing to marry his victim. She termed the question by the court as ‘plain simple disgust’.

On Monday, the Supreme Court asked a 23 year old man who stands accused of raping a minor girl, whether he will marry the victim. While hearing a special leave petition filed by the man, a bench asked the advocate Anand Dilip Langde, representing the petitioner, “Will you marry her?” The bench was headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and comprised of Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian.

Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu reacted to this news and wrote on the micro blogging site, “Did someone ask the girl this question ? If she wants to marry her rapist!!!??? Is that a question !!!??? This is the solution or a punishment ? Plain simple DISGUST!”

Fashion photographer Atul Kasbekar also reacted to the news and wrote, “I honestly cannot fathom this warped form of ‘justice’. Whatsoever Who can possibly have any logic as to how this can be any sort of solution?”

The accused person is a government servant who raped the girl when she was 16 years old. The Supreme Court granted the accused protection from arrest for four weeks against the Bombay High Court order, which cancelled his anticipatory bail. The girl alleged that initially the petitioner’s mother had agreed for the marriage. She executed a notarised undertaking for it. But later she refused.

Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu is in a ‘no break mood’ as she is currently working on her upcoming project titled “Dobaaraa”. The sci-fi movie is being directed by Anurag Kashyap, who has previously directed the actress in the 2018 film “Manmarziyaan”. In Dobaaraa, Pannu will once again join hands with her “Thappad” co-actor Pavail Gulati. Apart from this she has worked on ‘Loop Lapeta’ and ‘Rashmi Rocket’. The actress has a lot in her plate as she has wrapped up back to back movies which will release this year.
