Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha was roped in for a digital project helmed by Toilet – Ek Prem Katha fame director Shree Narayan Singh, titled ‘Bulbul Tarang’. Latest reports said that the film will be a social drama which will revolve around dowry.

In March this year, Dabang actress Sonakshi Sinha wrapped up her debut OTT project, Amazon Prime Video series ‘Fallen’. Even before the release of her debut project she has signed two more digital projects- Heera Mandi under Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s banner and web film called Bulbul Tarang. Previous reports only said that the web film will be directed by Toilet – Ek Prem Katha fame director Shree Narayan Singh.

While revealing a little more about the movie, a source said, “It’s a social drama majorly in the satire zone that revolves around dowry and the horrific implications of the same. Sonakshi plays a carefree happy-go-lucky girl from a small town who sets out to bring a change and reform the social prejudices that exist in her town and community. It’s a coming of age film and when Sonakshi was approached for the same, the actress loved the script and her role. The whole idea touched her heart and she immediately said yes to the same.” (Bollywood Hungama)

Sonakshi will be entering the digital world with ‘Fallen’ which will release on Amazon Prime Video. The series has been directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi and also stars Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah. Sonakshi will be essaying the role of a cop in the series which has been Backed by Excel Entertainment and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar and Kagti’s production house Tiger Baby.

Sonakshi also has Abhishek Dudhaiya’s Bhuj – The Pride of India starring actors like Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Ammy Virk, and Sharad Kelkar. The movie based on true story is also lined up for digital release, and if it releases before ‘Fallen’ then it may mark her web debut.  The source said, “The modalities have been worked out. The team is waiting for the Covid restrictions to ease out a bit and then lock dates for the shoot. It will mostly be shot somewhere in UP.”

The story of Bhuj – The Pride of India is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
