On Friday, the shooting of Bobby Deol starrer, ‘Love Hostel’ was allegedly stopped by the protesting farmers in Patiala, Punjab. Incidentally, last month in Patiala only, the farmers had disrupted the shooting of Janhvi Kapoor’s film ‘Good Luck Jerry’.
Farmers’ agitation over the 3 controversial laws by the Centre is gaining momentum with each passing day. Their anger is spreading fiercely on Bollywood as well. The shooting of the upcoming film ‘Love Hostel’ featuring Bobby Deol was stopped by the protesting farmers in Patiala. In the month of January farmers stalled the shooting of Janhvi’s film, Good Luck Jerry, after which the actress had to return to Mumbai.
According to reports, it was during the protests over Janhvi’s film shooting earlier that the farmers clearly said that they would not allow any Bollywood film to shoot in Punjab till their issue with the government is resolved.
The farmers have also expressed their disappointment over the fact that, though BJP MP Sunny Deol and Dharmendra belong to Punjab, both of them did not extend any sort of support to the protesting farmers. Actor-Producer Sunny Deol is also a BJP MP from Gurdaspur.
Reports claimed that the farmers are not only disappointed by Deol’s but also with other celebrities as well. They said that no prominent Bollywood actor had come out in their support so far.
The film ‘Love Hostel’ is directed by Shankar Raman and is co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s production house. Besides, Bobby Deol, Sanya Malhotra and Vikrant Massey are in the lead roles. Last year actress Sanya Malhotra took to her social media handle and announced the film. She wrote, “’Set against the pulsating backdrop of rustic North India, ‘Love Hostel’ traces the volatile journey of a spirited young couple, being hunted by a ruthless mercenary. The star-crossed lovers take on the entire world and then some more in search of their fairytale ending. This is a survival tale in the game of power, money and principles with mayhem and bloodshed.”
As of now the shooting of this film has been postponed.
