Yesterday, Deepika was in Delhi for the promotion of her upcoming movie Chhapaak. In the evening, she joined JNU peaceful rally by the students of JNU and the faculty. She stood with JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh who was also injured in the violence.
On 5 January, students of JNU and teachers were mob attacked. During the violence, many students, as well as teachers, were injured. The police did not take any crucial step that day due to which people were angry and this anger was also seen in B-Town celeb.
Against this violence, celebrities were gathered in Kartar road and did silent protest. Actors like Tapsee Pannu, Richa Chadda, Dia Mirza, Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Basu participated in this protest with hundreds of people in Mumbai.
Many celebrities, appreciated Deepika’s this step and said they were glad that Deepika also supported the protest and #IstandwithDeepika #ChhapaakDekhoTapaakSe was trending on social media. Whereas, some netizens believed that she did that to promote her upcoming movie “Chaapaak ” and started #BoyCottChaapaak.
