The sequel of the 2014 film Ek Villain that is titled as Ek Villian returns now has a release date scheduled. The film will star John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani. Mohit Suri the director of the film has announced the date of release of film as February 11, 2022.
Mohit Suri has directed films like Half Girlfriend, Aashiqui 2, Murder 2, Zeher and Kalyug. His last directed movie Malang that starred Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor and Kunal Kemmu, released before coronavirus lockdown in 2020.
This is the first time that John Abraham will collaborate with Suri. Arjun Kapoor has previously worked with the director on Half Girlfriend. Disha Patani played the lead role in Suri’s last directorial Malang.
Taking to Instagram, John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor wrote, “Iss kahaani ka hero, villain hai!,” while Disha and Tara captioned their post saying, “Aapko shikayat ka mauka nahi denge. #EkVillainReturns, 11th Feb, 2022.” Filmmaker Mohit Suri stated, “Hero ki kahaani sab jaante hai.. par villain ki? #EkVillainReturns, 11th Feb, 2022.”
“Ek Villain was my passion project and a labour of love. The kind of love that I still receive for ‘Ek Villain’ overwhelms me. I am sure with ‘Ek Villain Returns’, the love is only going to grow bigger. And while I cannot reveal much about the film, I can assure that it is going to be a thrilling rollercoaster ride,” Suri said in a statement.
Suri said: “I have made sequels in the past like ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘Murder 2’. A pressure is always there to live up to the original film. What we are trying to do this time, besides having a bigger scale and bigger actors and taking the story forward, is to try and make it more contemporary, given the new digital age we are living in. It has got a lot more zing.”
Ek Villain Returns will be produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. Suri said, “In this film, the girls are also playing villains. Me and Ekta are trying to build on a whole series of villains and different characters, who are all connected to each other.”
