The much anticipated spy action spectacle Pathan featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham has been in limelight since it was announced. According to a latest update, actor John Abraham will be playing the role of a freelance terrorist in the Siddharth Anand directorial.
John Abraham who plays an antagonist in Pathan will portray the role of a ruthless terrorist who has no nationality and works only for money. Unlike conservative terrorist roles, John’s track is on the cooler side, as he is a man on a mission in disguise.
A source revealed, “John plays the role of someone who works for money. He doesn’t have a nationality; he is ruthless with his only religion being money. It’s more like a freelance undercover terrorist. In Pathan, he works for the Russian mafia, who are running a covert gun racket in India.”
Reports suggest that the makers decided to ditch John’s traditional bulky avatar and go for a lean appearance. Over the last few months, the handsome hunk shed some muscles to achieve the look. John’s character in Pathan will eventually be indulging in multiple chase sequences and an enticing battle royale with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, who are on a mission to bust the racket. He will also engage in hand to hand combats with Shah Rukh.
Pathan is an action packed espionage and is a part of YRF Spy Universe that started with the Tiger franchise. The project is a comeback movie for superstar Shah Rukh Khan as he was on a break after his last release Zero.
Pathan brings back one of the most loved on screen couple- Shah Rukh and Deepika. The duo has already spelt blockbusters for the big screen right from Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year. Both the actors will portray the role of spies and for the very first time, Deepika will be seen in a boy cut.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, the ambitious project also stars Salman Khan in an extended cameo, making an appearance as Tiger. Salman’s character rescues Shah Rukh from the Russian mafia and this scene has already been shot.
Pathan will release during the Eid 2022 weekend.
