After five years, Karan Johar is all set to make his comeback in direction with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The movie will also bring evergreen actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi on the big screen.
Filmmaker Karan Johar had announced that he will be going behind the camera once again to work on his upcoming magnum opus titled, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The movie will reunite Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and is a love story that is deeply embedded in the roots of family. Apart from the Gully Boy lead pair, the family-centric movie also features veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in key roles.
Shabana and Dharmendra are coming together for the second time after Mardon Wali Baat in 1988. As for Jaya Bachchan, she has earlier worked with Johar for movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kal Ho Na Ho.
An entertainment site said that Karan’s movie is about family values and love which will have some really intense scenes between Jaya and Shabana. Produced by Karan’s Dharma Productions, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan & Sumit Roy.
On Tuesday, Karan Johar took to social media and teased his fans with a glimpse of the forthcoming project. He wrote in the caption, “Thrilled to get behind the lens with my favourite people in front of it! Presenting Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, headlined by none other than Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan & Sumit Roy. This anokhi kahani is coming to your screens in 2022! #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani #RRKPK.”
In a follow-up post he introduced the rest of the cast and wrote, “Meet the legendary stars of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. We are all thrilled to work with these veteran legends and I cannot wait to be on set with them! #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani #RRKPK.”

Since Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016, Karan has directed two short films in the Netflix anthologies Lust Stories and Ghost Stories. In 2018, he announced his next directorial venture, Takht which has been delayed due to the pandemic.
