Indra Kumar’s upcoming directorial titled Thank God starring Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh, has been in the planning stage for over two years. The shooting of the movie has been on the backburner due to the pandemic and the makers have already incurred a loss of approx. Rs. 2 crores.
Before the pandemic came into existence, Indra Kumar finished the script of the movie Thank God which is an adaptation of a Danish film. In January this year, the producers did the mahurat shot of the film in Mumbai as the plan was to kick-start shoot from mid-April. However, the T-Series Films & Maruti International production film was not able to go on floor, courtesy the second Covid wave in India.
A source revealed, “A gigantic set for the film was already made in Film City. A bit of it was also being readied by the side as the team worked on beginning shoot for the first schedule. But when the new restrictions were put forward by the Maharashtra Government in April, the makers already predicted it would last longer than what it was initially planned for. The choice was clear: either they had to wait it out till they could shoot and pay rent for the set per day OR dismantle it and lose around approx. Rs. 2 crores. They chose the latter because given the situation, had they not brought down the set, the loss would have been many times higher.” (Bollywood Hungama)
The movie stars Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh. Thank god will mark the first collaboration of Ajay and Sidharth.
Talking about Rakul, she will be joining hands with Ajay for the third time after the duo featured in 2019 film ‘De De Pyaar De’ and are reuniting for ‘Mayday’.
The actress will be collaborating with Sidharth after they were last seen together in 2018’s film ‘Aiyaary’ and Marjaavaan (2019).
