Last month, fans were excited to hear about the first collaboration of bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha and Riteish Deshmukh in an upcoming Ronnie Screwvala production. Latest updates suggest that Saqib Saleem has also joined the cast of the film which has been titled Kakuda. Saqib will be romancing Sonakshi who plays the role of a ghost hunter in the film.
Sonakshi, Riteish and Saqib will be exploring horror-comedy under the direction of Marathi filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar who has previously directed Riteish in the Marathi film Mauli. Kakuda will be director Aditya’s fourth Hindi directorial after Thodi Thodi Si Manmaaniyan (2017), The Sholay Girl, and last year’s hit Voot Select series, The Raikar Case.
The Ronnie Screwvala production is said to be similar in theme yet different from the other horror comedy films being made in India. It is said to be a medium budget, real incident-inspired fictional drama.
Earlier, Kakuda was scheduled to go on floors in September. However, sources have revealed that the project has been advanced by about a month-and-a-half. It is now expected to go on floors next week in Mandawa, Rajasthan. The makers have planned to wrap up the film in 40-day start-to-finish schedule.
As of now, the pre-production is going on in full swing.
Apart from this, Sonakshi Sinha will soon be seen in the war drama Bhuj: The Pride of India alongside Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt. The film is slated to premiere on August 13 on Disney+Hotstar. Sinha will also be making her web series debut with Reema Kagti’s Fallen. After completing Kakuda, the actress will shoot for Shree Narayan Singh’s Netflix film, Bulbul Tarang.
On the other hand, Riteish Deshmukh is about to finish shooting for his Netflix film with Shashanka Ghosh.
