As an actress, she has a long list of quirky films lined up for release in the next 12 months – Do Baraah, Rashami Rocket, Shabaash Mithu, Jana Gana Mana, Mishan Impossible, Looop Lapeta, and others. In the last eight-nine years in Bollywood, Taapsee Pannu has played everything from the quintessential leading lady in some extremely challenging parts in films like Thappad, Saandand Ki Aankh, Manmarziyaan, Badla among others. As an actress with an expansive repertoire, it wasn’t surprising that she wanted to become a producer, sooner or later. Prior to her, actresses like Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Anushka Sharma have made films like Chhapaak, The Sky Is Pink, and NH10 respectively.
Talking about arriving at the decision to produce films and have a deeper creative involvement with films, Taapsee said, “The thought has crossed my mind; in fact, many people had even told me that I might make for a really good producer and that I should take it up because I always try to work around the constraints that come in the way. And that I don’t let anything get wasted. It’s just that production requires great collaborators, people you can get along with and work on the ground. I mean, I didn’t want to be a name-producer, I wanted to be a hands-on producer. And while I am away on a shoot, I had to have a team that could handle the work smoothly. I didn’t want to do something for the sake of it. And here we are today…”
