Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw’s biopic featuring Vicky Kaushal has finally got a title which was unveiled on Saturday. Sam was India’s first army Officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. The title of his biopic was announced on his 106th birth anniversary.
Sam Manekshaw was one of the most prominent figures that led India to the 1971 Indo-Pak victory, which led to the formation of Bangladesh. Director Meghna Gulzar and Producer Ronnie Screwvala are working on the biopic of this war hero. The highly anticipated biopic stars Vicky Kaushal in the titular role.
On Saturday, Vicky took to his Instagram handle and released a video voiced by veteran lyricist Gulzar. The video showed different names by which Sam Manekshaw is known and ends with the film’s title.
Director of the movie, Meghna also announced the title by sharing the video on her twitter account. She wrote, “The man. The legend. The brave heart. Our Samबहादुर… On the birth anniversary of Field Marshal #SamManekshaw, his story has found its name. #SamBahadur”

Sam Bahadur marks the second collaboration between Meghna and Vicky after their 2017 blockbuster Raazi. Back in the year 2019, Vicky’s first look from the film was released on the day of Manekshaw’s death anniversary. The movie got everyone’s attention due to Vicky’s uncanny resemblance with Sam.
The director also seems excited to embark on this journey as she previously said, “He was a soldier’s soldier and a gentleman’s gentleman. They don’t make men like Sam Bahadur anymore. I’m so honoured to be telling his story with Ronnie Screwvala and the incredibly talented Vicky Kaushal. On the Field Marshal’s birth anniversary, his story has got its name. I couldn’t be happier.”
Earlier, Kaushal said in a statement, “I had always heard stories about Sam Bahadur from my parents who hail from Punjab and have seen the 1971 war but when I read the script I was completely blown away. He is a hero and patriot who is still remembered and loved to this day and capturing his spirit in the film is of the highest importance to me.”
Apart from Sam Bahadur, Vicky Kaushal will be seen in upcoming sci-fi Ashwatthama. The movie based on the character from the Mahabharata is being directed by Aditya Dhar.
