The film Gangubai Kathiawadi, featuring Alia Bhatt as the title character, had a good opening weekend. The film achieved a 10.50 crore opening weekend and a second-day total of 13.32 crore. It had a good day on Sunday, grossing over 15 crore, bringing the weekend total to around 38.82 crore. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is reported to have resurrected Indian cinema theatres during the coronavirus pandemic, thanks to a favourable box office response.
According to a reports, the Sunday collections were as follows: “As Gujarat, UP, and MP show growth in the 40-50 percent area, if not more, Gangubai Kathiawadi would have a good Sunday in the range of 15 crore nett. The picture had a terrific opening day in mass-market theatres for a female-led film, and it was maintained on Saturday and Sunday.”

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a movie about a young lady who was pressured into the sex trade and ultimately rose to prominence in Mumbai’s Kamathipura red-light district. Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, and Seema Pahwa also star.
