A police official stated on Saturday that Siddhesh Kamble alias Mahakal, a suspected participant of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, informed investigators that B-town filmmaker Karan Johar was on the list of those the group sought to extort. However, a top official cautioned that these assertions have yet to be validated, and that Kamble’s remarks might contain elements of boasting.
According to a police officer, Kamble was a close aide of Santosh Jadhav, a defendant in the assassination of Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala, and was well aware of the murder plot. While Kamble is being held by Pune rural officers in relation with a previous incident in the district, he has been questioned by team members from the Special Cell of the Police Authorities, Punjab Police, and the Mumbai Crime Branch in relation with the Moosewala death and a danger written statement received by B-town actor Salman Khan and his dad Salim Khan earlier this month.
According to the source, Kamble revealed a lot of information regarding the Moosewala murder conspiracy in his remarks before the investigative teams, and mentioned Santosh Jadhav and one Nagnath Suryavanshi as being engaged in the crime. According to the official, he also supplied information on the Bishnoi gang’s plans for the future, which is believed of being behind Moosewala’s murder. According to him, the group planned to steal Rs 5 crore from Johar by frightening him.
According to Kamble’s allegation, Vikram Brar, the brother of Canadian mobster Goldie Brar, planned the preparations with him via Instagram and Signal. A lady suspected of narcotics trafficking and a doctor accused of desecrating a Sikh sacred text were also on the list, according to the official. Kamble’s statements are still being verified by investigating authorities, he added. Earlier this week, Pune rural police detained Jadhav and his assistant, Navnath Suryavanshi, in Bhuj, Gujarat.
The insider stated that after Moosewala’s assassination in May, the Bishnoi gang started to threaten B-town celebrities in order to capitalise on the media attention. Vikram Brar devised this scheme, he alleged, which included scaring Salman Khan with blackmail. According to police, Vikram Brar sent 3 members of the Bishnoi gang to Mumbai to convey the threat letter to Salman Khan, based on information provided by Kamble. However, a senior officer with the Pune Rural Police Department emphasised that they were still checking Kamble’s assertion that Karan Johar was a ransom target. “In the confessions of several of the suspects, there is a hint of boasting.
