starrer Runway 34 destined for the big screen?
Runway 34, starring Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, and Rakul Preet Singh, has become the talk of the town. With a bunch of movies going straight to OTT and the Omicron form of COVID-19 closing down cinemas in key areas, putting limits in others, and threatening the theatre economy in general, there has been a lot of speculation about whether Runway 34 will go for digital launch. With the most recent information regarding the Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, and Rakul Preet blockbuster is right here.
To get some more clarity on the movie Runway 34 and whether it’ll be delivered straight on an OTT platform or not, the sources spoke with renowned film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi, who stated that they’ve (the trade) heard nothing to this effect so far, but it would be very disappointing if it happened because a superstar like Ajay Devgn shouldn’t have two back-to-back OTT launch after a huge blockbuster like Tanhaji (in big screens) (there was already Bhuj: The Pride of India).
The OTT launch is also uncertain, according to Akshaye Rathi, because Ajay Devgn is an exhibitor and understands the requirements of the hour. Plus, it’ll send the incorrect message because Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2 is set to release on the same day as Runway 34, and it’ll send the wrong message if the latter, which is waved by the big stars Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan, bows out of the competition. So, Akshaye is crossing his fingers that two huge films starring big names will be released in theatres in time for the prolonged Eid weekend this year.
Runway 34 also marks the feature film debut of prominent YouTuber Carry Minati, in addition to Ajay, Amitabh, and Rakul Preet Singh. Now, we all have to wait and watch what is going to happen! This drastic rise of Covid-19 cases is something we all are uncertain about.
