Actor Kartik Aaryan has reportedly been ousted from Dostana 2 by Dharma Productions due to the actor’s “unprofessional behaviour”. No official statement has been made by the actor and the production house.
In October 2019, bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan told his fans that he had started preparing for Karan Johar’s Dostana 2. In one of his Instagram posts Kartik was seen holding the script of the sequel of 2008 hit Dostana as he prepared for his role. Kartik had also talked about the film in many interviews as he said that the role will push boundaries for him.
Though no official announcement has been made yet, but a trade source has revealed that Kartik has been fired by Johar’s Dharma Productions. He will no longer be a part of Dostana 2 as Johar has decided to replace the actor in the movie and never work with Kartik Aaryan in the future. The actor had already completed 20 days of shoot for the film which had to be delayed due to the pandemic.
The decision was taken as Kartik kept on dilly-dallying the shoot of the movie for months. Initially, Kartik had problems with his dates and later on, he started having creative issues. The actor decided to first wrap up Ram Madhvani’s film Dhamaka and that annoyed Karan. Apparently, Kartik and Karan had fallout over it.
A source said, “For the longest time, Kartik gave a genuine reason of the Covid 19 pandemic to not start shoot. He wanted to ensure safety so Karan didn’t push him much. But when he shot for Dhamaka, Karan was upset. They had an indoor meeting where Karan expressed his disappointment.”
Another source said, “The reason for Kartik Aaryan to not continue with the film as stated by him is the creative differences after one and a half years and completing over 20 days of the shoot. This has never happened in the history of Dharma where an actor has walked out of the film for creative issues. Dharma has decided not to work with him in the future.”
There have been no reports as to who will step in for Kartik’s role in Dostana 2.
Dostana 2 began with the cast including Kartik, Janhvi Kapoor and TV actor Lakshya. It is directed by Collin D’Cunha. The original film, which featured Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan was a massive success despite controversies.
