Lata Mangeshkar ji Birth
Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28th September 1929 and born as Hema Mangeshkar, the eldest daughter of a Marathi and Konkani music artist Deenanath Mangeshkar. Over the course of a seven-decade career, she has earned honorific names such as Nightingale of India and Queen of Melody for her contributions to the Indian music industry.
When she was 13-year-old Lata, her father Dinanath had left the world when the Quit India movement was at its pinnacle in 1942, leaving her with the duty of managing the entire family’s affairs. Lata, who studied music with Ustad Aman Ali Khan and Amanat Khan, had to fight hard to make a living at first. She began her career in 1942 by singing a song in the Marathi film ‘Ki Kii Ilaas,’ but the song was eventually deleted from the film. After 5 years, India gained independence, and Lata Mangeshkar began singing in Hindi films. Her first film, ‘Aapki Seva Mein,’ featured her singing, but her song received little attention.
Lata’s star first shines brightly in 1949 and continues to shine like nobody.
This year, four films were released: ‘Barsaat,’ ‘Dulari,’ ‘Mahal,’ and ‘Andaz.’ Soon after she sang ‘Aayega Aane Wala Aayega’ in ‘Mahal,’ the Hindi movie industry realised that this fresh voice would go a long way, as it was a time when heavy-voiced singers like Noorjahan, Shamshad Begum, and Zohrabai Ambalewali ruled the Bollywood entertainment industry.
Lata Mangeshkar had a difficult time in her early years. Many movie producers and music directors refused to give her an opportunity to sing because her voice was too fine. Madanmohan’s Ghazals and C Ramachandra’s Bhajans have left an indelible impact on people’s thoughts and hearts, while Lata Mangeshkar worked with every significant artist save OP Nayyar. Lata Mangeshkar has created a monolithic empire in Hindi film playback singing since Noor Jahan’s departure to Pakistan in the 1950s. There has never been a singer who has presented a measurable challenge to her.
Lata had recorded songs in around thirty-six Languages of India as well as a few foreign languages, though she was most known for her work in Hindi and Marathi. Over her career, she garnered numerous awards and honours. The Government of India awarded her the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1987. She received the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 2001 for her efforts to the country, making her only the 2nd female singer to do so after M. S. Subbulakshmi. In 2007, France bestowed her the highest civilian honour, the Officer of the Legion of Honour.
She won three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards, Two Filmfare Special Awards, a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and a slew of other accolades. She was the very first Indian to participate in the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1974.
Despite her unrivalled status and constant presence at the top, Lata has always adhered to Riyaz’s guideline for the best singing; every artist who has worked with her has stated that she is always striving to include four moons in each song. The greatest honour Lata has gained millions of followers by her performance.
And today, Legendary Lata Mangeshkar passed away at Mumbai’s The Breach Crandi Hospital. She has been admitted for the past 27 days at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. She was also treated in the hospital regularly, but unfortunately, she couldn’t survive.
