May 28 i.e today is remarked as 139th birth anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Sarvakar. The creators of the movie Swatantra Veer Savarkar have published the first glimpse of Randeep Hooda, who plays Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in the film. ‘Hindutva Dharm Nahin, Itihaas Hai,’ reads the poster. The film will be premiered on screens in August 2022. The poster looks really fascinating and eye catching. Randeep is seen dressed like Savarkar and the look is just carried well by him.
“At a time when films like Harshad Mehta, Vijay Mallya, and Lalit Modi are popular, I am more intrigued in telling the tale of Veer Savarkar’s life,” says filmmaker Sandeep Singh. He was India’s first charismatic hero and the only person who could have prevented the Partition of India in 1947. I want to convey the world the truth about Savarkar’s fight through this film, not just as a director, but most significantly as an Indian. His valiant fight for independence, his fearless demeanour, which alarmed the British, and his unwavering commitment to Hindutva until his last breath are all deeply inspiring.
He is the most misinterpreted hero, and it is high time now that we learn about him and, more importantly, celebrate him. He was never given what he deserved, hence I propose that Savarkar should be graciously granted the Bharat Ratan and the Nobel Prize” Sandeep said.
“Randeep has time and time again demonstrated his knowledge and skills as a performer and, moreover, shown that he can convert into the persona he portrays,” producer Anand Pandit said. However, due of his striking likeness to the freedom fighter, there is an added progression in the case of Savarkar. I’m a history buff, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to convey the narrative of a leader who deserves to be told to the people” Anand stated.
“Different individuals have different views of Savarkar in their minds,” director Mahesh Manjrekar says, “but as a filmmaker, I’m attempting to match the same thinking that Savarkar had.” As a result, the film’s Savarkar character will be identical to what Savarkar was in reality. He was the ultimate independence fighter, and we’ll make sure no Indian forgets about him” Mahesh further cited.
