Look who is back to industry! Kajol! Yes, she never stopped working and purposefully continued to make movies every 2 – 3 years, but we must confess that we missed her and wished we could have seen her onscreen more frequently. As her children have gotten older—her son Yug is now 12 years old and her daughter Nysa is 19—Kajol is refocusing on her work and is open to both movie and OTT ventures as long as they have compelling material and offer her the freedom to try out different roles. For Revathy’s Salaam Venky, Kajol has already wrapped up filming, and she will shortly begin her first web series for Disney+Hotstar. Suparn Varma, who also co-directed The Family Man Season 2, is in charge of the as-yet-untitled programme, which will feature Kajol in the character of a mother and wife who joins the workforce after years of being a stay-at-home.
That isn’t the only thing Kajol is doing this year, either. The DDLJ heroine will also appear in the second instalment of the highly praised anthology Lust Stories on Netflix India. The short film directed by Badhaai Do filmmaker Amit Sharma has Kajol as the lead, and reports claim that she has already wrapped up filming. At the end of last month, Kajol filmed in Uttar Pradesh for the Amit Sharma movie. It just took ten days to shoot, and everything was done smoothly and on schedule. In this movie, Kajol portrays a fearless character, and the actress is happy to have tried something new, according to the insider. Amit Sharma and Kajol’s famous husband, Ajay Devgn, previously collaborated on the sports-drama movie Maidaan, which is slated to hit theatres later this year.
Four years after the release of the first season of Lust Stories on Netflix India, which examined contemporary relationships from the perspective of Indian women—from troubled marriages to sexual hiccups—the second season is now available. Vicky Kaushal, Radhika Apte, Kiara Advani, Bhumi Pednekar, Manisha Koirala, Sanjay Kapoor and Jaideep Ahlawat were among the ensemble cast members of the 2018 anthology, which was helmed by Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, and Dibakar Banerjee.
This Netflix anthology is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Ashi Dua under their labels, RSVP Movies and Flying Unicorn Entertainment.
