On Saturday, T-Series head Bhushan Kumar officially announced that they will be making a biopic on the legendary bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan. Details of the actress playing the role Khan in the film has not been revealed. The announcement was made on Khan’s first death anniversary.
Last year on 3rd July, popular Bollywood film choreographer Saroj Khan died following a cardiac arrest. She took her last breath at the age of 71. Before her demise she was hospitalized in Mumbai due to breathing issues. Bollywood celebrities paid homage to the late choreographer.
According to latest update, a biopic on the ace choreographer is being made by T-Series. The music company tweeted on Saturday, “We’re glad to announce that we’ve acquired the rights to the legendary choreographer, Saroj Khan’s life story. Stay tuned.”
According to an official statement, Bhushan Kumar acquired rights to her life story from Saroj Khan’s children Raju Khan, Sukaina Khan and daughter of Hina Khan.
Months after Khan’s death, choreographer-turned-director Remo D’souza had also expressed his interest in making a film on Saroj Khan. Remo had revealed that it was Khan’s wish.
Talking to a news agency, Remo said that once he had a long conversation with Khan when she said that if someone were to make her biopic it would be him as he knows both dance and struggle.
Choreographer Saroj Khan had a career span of over forty years with more than 2000 songs to her credit. She had choreographed evergreen tracks such as Hawa Hawai, Ek Do Teen, Tamma Tamma Loge, Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, among many others.
Khan was a three time National Award winner. She had received national awards for ‘Dola Re Dola’ from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, ‘Ek Do Teen’ from Tezaab and ‘Ye Ishq Haaye’ from Jab We Met.
She last choreographed song was ‘Tabaah Hogaye’, featuring Madhuri Dixit in the 2019 film, Kalank.
