When actors Rana Duggabati and Venkatesh emphasized constantly that their first online series Rana Naidu is a household drama that is best viewed on its own, they weren’t joking. This warning is intended for viewers who may tune in anticipating something upbeat and have studied their performances in Telugu movies. Ray Donovan’s Indian remake , Rana Naidu, by Suparn Varma and Karan Anshuman , is a gritty crime and family drama with plenty of nudity and adult language. Once you get over this series, it does have a few positive aspects.
Rana Naidu starring Rana Duggabati.
The first two episodes serve as character introductions for the Rana Naidu family, which includes his wife Naina (Surveen Chawla), a former Telugu actress who came to Bombay after marrying Rana, and their kids Nitya (Afrah Sayed) and Ani (Madhav Dhingra) . Both Jaffa (Abhishek Banerjee), the younger brother of Rana, and Tej (Sushant Singh), the stunt choreographer, reel from the scars of a difficult upbringing. Up until the dad, Naga Naidu (Venkatesh), escapes from Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad & travels to Bombay, the family appears to be rather connected.
Characters in the series range from the serious to the bizarre. No matter how filthy a job they have to clean up, Rana and his crew, Lara (Lauren Robinson) as well as Srini (Adithya Menon), put up a stoic façade. They say nothing beyond what is the bare minimum necessary while maintaining a poker face. In one episode, a character questions Rana about whether he secretly sheds tears while seeing Baghban on television. The supposedly irritating person, Prince Reddy (Gaurav Chopra), Naga’s brother Surya (Ashish Vidyarthi), the banker OB Mahajan (Rajesh Jais), and the various ladies they have affairs with are at the other end of the spectrum.
Overall, it is a desi web series with loads of things that will excite you and keep you connected. People who have loved web series like Mirzapur, sacred games , and Tandav will love this series.
